 Possible compatibility issues with my PC and laptop January 8, 2009

After reading all the product reviews I decided that the Dazzle Video Creator would give me more control, (i.e. through editing), over how my VHS collection was transferred onto DVD. The drivers and software loaded onto my Dell Windows Media Centre PC without any problem and when I connected the USB interface it was reckognised instantly. Unfortunately, when I connected my Toshiba VHS player and played a selection of tapes I did not get a preview picture within Pinnacles' Studio software. After checking all the settings and ensuring I had the most up-to-date drivers I tried a Philips DVD player and Panasonic VHS/DVDR combi but to no avail. Following a swift Amazon replacement, (Definitely recommend Amazon's returns process!), I installed everything again but got the same result, no video signal within Studio. I then tried a Dell Windows XP Pro laptop but got exactly the same result, so can only assume some kind of compatibilty problem exists on my Dell PCs. Reluctantly I declared defeat and returned the interface and am still looking for a suitable means of editing my VHS tapes and transferring them onto DVD.

Ok guys apart from one extra download of Amcap (found with most PC webcams or free to download from site) this was a doddle. Capturing games from my Xbox360 no problem and really easy to set up Using Pinaccle Sudio 11 with Vista but if you have Windows XP use Windows Movie Maker (Vista version doesnt have capture option). Youtube has plenty of vids on how to set up 60Hz with Pal xboxs so no excuse. My dad has now oredered one too at this price its a bargain.

On recieving this I was worried following previous reviews regarding set up how wrong I was to worry, following installation of the software I found myself making perfect copies of my old Hi8 tapes to my pc in no time at all with no problems. I give this product a major thumbs up. I am using Microsoft Vista Home Premium.

Vista is the current format and it does not work with this product- ended up buying Rescue Your Videotapes and it did work! - just hassle buying and changing a product. At least its sorted out and it would have saved me time if I had known from the start. Anyway just check your operating sytem before purchase.

My son is making an XBox 360 video for You Tube. Many similar videos referenced Dazzle so he bought one. Our PC is much more than adequate as I use it for composing music so sound card /graphics etc - - all high spec.
Dazzle is most definitely not the right product. Check out the other reviews. When I looked on You Tube - - they're all Americans who referenced Dazzle. Get something else.
